We’re
generally a big fan of Boards (responsible, balanced ones, or bent
ones we’re helping fix). After all, it’s their job to help maximize
shareholder value. But let’s not forget Parcon’s own variation of a
warning that dates back to Sun Tzu’s era about the risk of the
sovereign (e.g. the Emperor and his advisors) interfering with his
talented General. The CorpWar equivalent is pretty straightforward:
”If the General [CEO] needs to go
to the temple [the Board] to request permission to put out a fire, by the time he
gets back with the hose there is often nothing left but ashes.”
